About Tom
Founder of Handy Accounting Services
I grew up in hospitality. My parents ran takeaways, and from a young age I learned what service really meant—making people feel something. Whether it’s a birthday meal or a midweek escape, guests rarely get many chances to pause and celebrate. Being part of that experience? I’ve always found that rewarding. One of the first things my Dad told me, people come in for Fish and Chips, they come back because I know who they are, what we talked about last week and what they want to order before they do.
I trained professionally in cookery before moving front of house where I work with legends like Angela Hartnett, James Martin, and Rick Stein. I’ve ran restaurant services in 5-red-star hotels like Chewton Glen and The Vineyard at Stockcross. I’ve served at celebrity weddings, Children in Need’s Dine & Drive, and helped launch a restaurant that won an AA Rosette within a year—at just 23. But what really stuck with me wasn’t the accolades. It was the buzz—that high-pressure, 9pm-on-a-Friday-night intensity where the right mindset and systems make all the difference.
That same mindset is what I bring to Handy Accounting Services. I’m straight-talking, results-driven, and care too much about your success to sugar-coat things. I set this business up to fill the service gap in bookkeeping—because let’s face it, our industry isn’t exactly known for proactive support. My hospitality background means I bring not just the numbers, but the high-touch service, accountability, and obsession with the customer experience that this industry deserves. I still run events today, Ceroc Lesson nights and freestyles are nothing without community spirit and hospitality and this more than keeps my hand in with my own community.
I work best with hospitality businesses that are either just starting out and know they need real guidance—or established venues ready to take a hard look at how they’re operating. Everything can be fixed, as long as you’re honest about where you are.
I’ve built this business to help people succeed. That’s what drives me—whether it’s coaching my own team, supporting franchisees, or helping chefs and owners finally feel in control of their business again. And I’m just getting started.
